Zealand - THREE of whom have their names appear on the wall

                                 Served in 11th Armoured Cavalry Regiment

                                                                       2112168 Corporal James Edward LOTT
                                                                      April 17 1947 – 8 May 1968   KIA Chu Lai.
                                                                                    Served in US Marines

The following four completed their service and returned to their homes:
     Mike GOLABOSKI - Chu Lai 1967-68 - AUCKLAND
     Garry LOTT - US Marine Khe Sahn 1967-68 – AUCKLAND (Brother to Cpl JE LOTT - mentioned above)
Capt Brian PILMER –  US Marine (Pilot) USS Tripoli and Guadalcanal - GISBORNE

Both Errol Palmer and Brian Pilmer attended CCNZ in Hamilton during the early 1960's. Brians brother is Murray Pilmer who also
served in the NZ Army now retired in Napier..


From May 1962 until April 1975 approximately 61,000 personel served in the Australian Forces in Vietnam. Of those 191
Australian Service Personel were originally from New Zealand. They vary in all three forces and in many units of the
forces. When I began this page I managed to get the four people below for a start:

these names which are the 191 on record. Included amoungst these names are all ranks including:

other service personel come from places such as - HOKITIKA – ONEHUNGA – HAWERA – OAMARU – NGARUAWAHIA – OTAKI
– WAIPUKURAU from everywhere up north down to Invercrgill and includes some with honours such as:

            Distinguised Flying Cross - Wing Commander Drummond - HAMILTON
            Mention In Dispatches - Warrant Officer II Gibbons - PETONE
            Officer of the Order of the British Empire - Lieutenant Colonel Rouse - NELSON

The book titled "New Zealands Vietnam War" by Ian McGibbon states 184 Australian Service Persons are KIWI - our scource states
191 and the serviceman B Pilmer from the US Forces is not mentioned in this book either.
